Initiate Petition and the Constitution: What it says now
Right now, the Nevada Constitution requires only 10 percent of Nevada registered voters, who voted in the last general election to sign an initiative petition before a question makes it on the ballot and is voted on by the people.
SB212: What it would do
SB212 will require that a petition be signed by 10 percent of the registered voters in each assembly district, which will give the power of VETO to ONE assembly district, even if the other FORTY-ONE districts approve the initiative. Not only will this DILLUTE the voice of 99% of Nevadans, but it will make a mockery of the axiom, “One Man, One Vote.”
